CP

- Nikon P900

Rename it, tunnel through it, wave a flag atop the subterranean Metro Station or choke it up cars, but CP will never lose its charm. After years of digging and refurbishing, the grand old shopping arcade has a chic Euro look about. Change is visible – eateries offering exotic cuisine mushroom all over the place, replacing the venerable shops of yesteryear. Galgotias is difficult to locate and sports a moth-eaten look; Bookworm, Nirulas, Khubchand are fading memories. However, Wengers and Kwality soldier on. The hole in wall “Options” does more business than the Perfumes section of Lifestyle Mall.

On our visit we ‘did’ the classic CP activities – loafed, ate a fresh guava liberally sprinkled with chaat masala, got our shoes polished, slurped coffee at Starbucks and shopped – window and otherwise.

The crowd is laid back but not as ‘laid back’ as the overfed canines scattered like plump ticks all over the place. We found them contentedly basking in the winter sun blissfully ignoring all pedestrians. If it has to be renamed, call it CP – Canine Paradise.

Worth a revisit!
